H Mart to open new East Bay store in Dublin, CA

A new H Mart is coming to East Bay.

H Mart, a Korean supermarket based in New Jersey, continues its proliferation in the Bay Area with a new store headed to the East Bay, according to the San Francisco Business Times. It would be the fourth H Mart in the Bay Area.

The grocery store, which is known for stocking Asian snacks and foods that are hard to find outside of Asia, is set to be the newest member of the Dublin Retail Center in Dublin. The lease was actually signed in April 2021, the Business Times reported, and an October 2021 Facebook video of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce touted the imminent arrival of H Mart. It is still unclear when the store will be fully completed and open for business. H Mart did not respond to SFGATE at press time.

The first two Bay Area stores opened in San Jose in 2017. A San Francisco location inside the Oceanview Village mall opened in 2021 and recently expanded to more than 50 square feet. % when he took over the adjacent space, which was once a gym. H Mart Dublin will be 37,180 square feet. For comparison, the San Francisco H Mart, after expansion, will be 74,168 square feet.

In addition to providing popular specialty flavored potato chips, such as Spicy Crawfish or Lay’s Roast Fish flavor, H Mart is known for its food court. The San Francisco location includes Daeho Kalbijjim & Beef Soup, Left Wing Bar, and Paris Baguette, a South Korean bakery company.

Launched in 1982, the supermarket has over 100 locations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
