According to the Wildlife Division of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, four state fish hatcheries are hosting open houses this spring to give Ohioans the opportunity to learn more about their operations. Hatchery Open Days are free.
Hatchery open days are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at these locations:
Saturday: Saint Marys State Fish Hatchery, 01735 Feeder Road, St. Marys
April 2: Hebron State Hatchery, 10517 Canal Road, Hebron
April 9: Castalia State Hatchery, 7018 Homegardner Road, Castalia
May 7: London State Hatchery, 2470 Roberts Mill Road, London
Wildlife Division staff will be available to arrange tours and answer questions about fish production and fisheries management. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about these hatcheries and can observe fish eggs and fry in production buildings as they hatch, and observe older fish in ponds or raceways . In addition, family-friendly activities and exhibits will be available.
Time to renew your licenses?
Ohio resident fishing licenses cost $25 and are valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be purchased up to 30 days before the expiration date.
Annual hunting licenses for Ohio residents for the 2022-23 seasons are $19 for adults ($10 for youth) and are available now. Hunting licenses are valid immediately after purchase until February 28.
Apple Creek American Legion Post 147 will hold stills on Sundays, April 10 and 24 and May 8 and 22. Breakfast starts at 10 a.m., registration at 10:30 a.m., and shooting at noon. Extension 147 is located at 8493 Hackett Road, Apple Creek.
spring trap league
The East Holmes Sportsman’s Association is looking for teams for its spring trap league starting March 23. The league will be limited to 12 teams. Contact the club quickly to reserve your place.

Spring is still pulling
Spring shoots will take place every through April 24, excluding Easter, at the Shreve Farmers Sportsman Club. Filming begins at noon and registration begins around 11:30 a.m. The progressive jackpot is over $3,800. The club shoots shot, slug and .22. The club is located at 8430 Township Road 513, Shreve.
