The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ new hunting and fishing app is now available for download on Apple and Android devices.
Launched in July after months of development and testing, the free Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app offers hunters, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts a convenient way to:
Buy hunting and fishing licenses and trail permits.
Report harvests of deer or fish.
View regulations and download guides and summaries.
Find their license history, including point and luck balances.
View multi-layered maps, showing features like firing ranges and boat ramps.
Receive timely notifications from the DNR.
“I like the app; it’s easy to use and has everything you need,” said Mike Koziara, owner of MQT Adventures and Guide Service, which offers guided fishing and other outdoor excursions on the Upper Peninsula.
The app is designed as a hybrid solution, which means users need internet access for certain features – including making purchases, reporting crops, downloading guides and summaries, checking points/odds and pull results, and view a map of DNR locations – but they can see all license purchases and downloaded guides/abstracts, regardless of internet connectivity.
With some hunting summaries, like the Waterfowl and Fall Turkey summaries, not going to print this year, the app provides a convenient new way to get information about hunting regulations and seasons.
“With hunting seasons fast approaching, the app couldn’t have been launched at a better time,” said DNR Chief Technology Officer Tom Weston. “Getting DNR licenses and information has never been easier – download the free app and get one-stop shopping at your fingertips, plus a discount on onX cards.”
A 30% discount on onX digital hunt maps is available for those who download the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app and sign up for notifications before September 14. On September 15, they will receive the discount via an in-app notification.
